What began thirty-five years ago as Harvey
Hubcap and the Do Ron Ron has
evolved into The
Fabulous Hubcaps, one of the nation’s most sought
after oldies show bands. Their career has been as diverse and
colorful as the bowling shirts they wear. On any given month, their
schedule may take them from Miami to Pittsburgh, Atlanta to Detroit,
or Albany to Washington, DC. Whether a black-tie formal affair for
the Northern Virginia Hospital, a 50′s Sock Hop for the ASPCA or the
Annual Blow-Out at the Nantucket Yacht Club, the Fabulous Hubcaps
have been the choice of entertainment for decades. The darlings of
the country club circuit, they are also recruited by American
Legions, VFW’s, fire companies and numerous civic organizations for
their ability to sell out a venue, making fund raisers a guaranteed
success.
The band has performed on the South Lawn of The White House for the
1995 Press Corps Picnic, and sang The National Anthem in Orioles
Park at Camden Yards. They have performed at the Ohio Expo Center in
Columbus, Ohio for The Goodguys/PPG Nationals, and were mentioned in
the 2003 Collector’s
Calendar Issue of Street
Rodder Magazine. The
group has performed at Inaugurations for Governors Wilkerson and
Patton of Kentucky, as well as being invited to appear at The
Kentucky Derby in 1993. Most recently, The Hubcaps performed at the
Inaugural Ball for Governor Joe Manchin of West Virginia. Hubcaps
fans include Maryland Senate President Mike Miller, Maryland Senator
Barbara Mikulski, the late Louis S. Goldstein, former Comptroller of
Maryland, and Coach Joe Gibbs of The Washington Redskins. They have
performed with Masters of Ceremonies and guest speakers that include
Bob Dole, Colonel Oliver North, Leslie Neilson and David Hyde Pierce
of Frasier.
Their national popularity has gained them the Key
to the City of Frankenmuth, Michigan by
Mayor Gary Rupprecht, in addition to a Proclamation
by the City honoring The Hubcaps for 19 consecutive years
of drawing record crowds to the annual Music Festival there. The
Hubcaps have performed aboard the Carnival Cruise Ship Fantasy and
in center field at The Bay Sox Stadium. They are at home on stages
like the state-of-the-art VanWezel Theatre in Sarasota, Florida, or
on a flatbed truck at a county fair.
On Sunday, July 17, 2005, The Hubcaps proudly were inducted into The
Southern Legends Entertainment and Performing Arts Hall of Fame.
This great honor was presented by Sun
Record Recording
Artist, Vernon
Taylor.
Since their first 45 record in 1982, The Hubcaps have released 17
recordings, from cassette tapes to their most recent compact discs, Proud
to be an American and
Showtime is Next! Performing
together since 1974, this seven-piece band shows no signs of slowing
down. The Hubcaps continue to captivate audiences with their high
energy tributes to original artists like Little Richard, James
Brown, Tina Turner, Bobby Darin, Sonny and Cher, The Flamingos, Ray
Charles, The Beach Boys, Willie Nelson & Patsy Cline, Elton John and
Frank Sinatra just to name a few. With an extensive repertoire of
Do-Wop group harmony, Classic Rock and Roll, Rock-A-Billy, Motown,
and R & B music, The Fabulous Hubcaps are heralded as one of the
best oldies show bands in the country.
The Fabulous Hubcaps look forward to having you share a magical
evening of entertainment with them as they continue to prove that “Rock
and Roll is Alive and Well!”
